LOCAL ARTISTS FEATURED SATURDAYS AT MUSEUM GIFT SHOP

Visitors to Portland Harbor Museum this summer will have the opportunity to
become better acquainted with some of the artists whose work is featured in
the museum's gift shop. "Meet the Artist Days" begin Saturday, July 10, and
continue each Saturday through August 21 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the
museum's garden at Spring Point on the campus of Southern Maine Community
College in South Portland.


The July Schedule

July 10 ­ Richard Anzelc and Craig Patterson

Anzelc¹s love for the sea is reflected in his work,
which includes stained glass, oil, acrylics, and watercolors. Besides a
presence in the Portland Harbor Museum Gift Shop, Anzelc's work is shown at
various art shows. His painting of the Coast Guard training ship "Eagle"
was presented to President Bush by the City of Portland.

Craig Patterson continues his father Don's work by making prints
and note cards of his black and white line drawings. Don Patterson was a
local history teacher and exhibited his art work at local art festivals for
many years.


July 17 ­ Patsy Catsos and Michael Barry

Patsy Catsos will feature her original watercolor
and oil paintings, matted or framed prints, and notecards. Ms. Catsos lives
and works in Cape Elizabeth where she often paints images of Maine¹s
historic buildings and local landmarks

Michael Barry's photographs are familiar to many as
well-known posters. The Museum Gift Shop currently features his ³Perfect
Storm² poster. On the 17th Mr. Barry will bring an assortment of
photographs and posters.


July 24 ­ Alan Eastman and Sandy Walling

Alan Eastman's delicate watercolors of lighthouses,
country scenes and typical Maine sights are featured in the Museum Gift
Shop. On July 24 Mr. Eastman will bring many additional art pieces.

Sandy Walling suffered from an undiagnosed condition
of dyslexia as a child. She wrote and illustrated "A Day at the Beach ­ A
seaside counting book from 1 to 10" in a manner designed to help early
learners understand the connection between the number of objects pictured
and the numerals. Ms. Walling owns Abernathy House Publishing in Yarmouth.


July 31 ­ Peter Hornby and Gail Miller

Peter Hornby, an Ocean Park resident is a well-known
eastern seacoast photographic artist. His book on Winslow Homer will soon
be on the market and for sale in the Museum Gift Shop. Mr. Hornby will be
available to sign his books and will bring a variety of his work.

Gail Miller's company Miller Designs was established
in 1990 on Chebeague Island. She is a trained metalsmith who creates
jewelry and ornaments. Her work is available in seasonal and year-round
shops all along the coast of Maine as well as at selected craft shows.

The "Meet the Artist"event continues in August at Portland
Harbor Museum¹s Gift Shop gardens. Portland Harbor Museum's summer exhibit
"Shipwrecks!!!" is open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Portland Harbor
Museum is on the campus of Southern Maine Community College at the Spring
Point end of Fort Road. Visitors from Portland should take the Casco Bay
Bridge, turn left onto Broadway and travel its length to Spring Point
Marina, turn right to Fort Road, turn left and travel its length to Spring
Point and the Museum.
